We just received a plaque, for our archives, a
memorial to Mynora Beamer Hopkins from the Silverdale United Church,
formerly a Methodist church built in 1873 which has disbanded.
"This religious mother-of-pearl plaque was presented and dedicated in 1966 in memory of Mynora Beamer Hopkins who was born at Silverdale, On, Nov. 26, 1870, and died at Hamilton Jan 26, 1959 aged 89 years. She was the daughter of Levi Beamer, one of the founders of this old Methodist church and of Amanda Freas, both life long members of this congregation and also third generation United Empire Loyalists of Holland Dutch racial origin. The plaque was acquired by him in 1944 while serving in the Holy Land. She married, in this church, William Bates Hopkins M.D. , also a Methodist.
