The Museums have many volunteer needs, each geared to specific interests and time commitments. If you’ve got an hour to spare, some rainy afternoon for instance, give Joan Martin a call. If you’ve got 3 hours a week from June - Labour Day or more to help with the Tourism area, call the Archives & leave a message for Jean to discuss working one shift a week at the train station.  All other time available, call Joan Martin at the archives at 905-957-0138 with one of the following volunteer groups:

Archivists - a group of people who range from working a few hours a week to a few hours every decade! These people love to research and record local history. They answer research requests.  They maintain the archival files at the Historical Museum. They do background research for new exhibits. And finally, they help to identify people and dates of old photographs.

Fundraisers - PoultryFest is our big fundraiser in June where the Town of Smithville celebrates our main industry & that is the Poultry Industry.  At the Train Station, we have fellow exhibitors in the Historical, Vintage & Train groups  can come & make known their group efforts.  We need help with the setup & running of the different areas so that the many thousands of visitors can come & enjoy themselves.

Be a member of the Society & enjoy the meetings & the free research & the fellowship in helping out.

Special Projects - We have different "angels" in this category who donate their time and expertise as the need arises. We have a Computer Specialist who is our Corporate Sponsor providing software advice & does the website. We have a "Jack-of-all-trades" who needs help to clean the building, dust, do dishes and empty waste baskets (all important jobs if they don’t get attended to regularly!). We also have a few gardeners & the Smithville Garden Club who help plant and maintain the grounds.  Also the Town of West Lincoln helps in various areas outside.

Events - We always need help staffing our outreach exhibits that we provide for various community special events.

So call us or email us & we'll get back to you whether it's one hour a year or more.  Thanks
